Natural gas squares off against competitors for Texas emissions money

Lawmakers are considering extending programs that encourage the use of natural gas. In a battle over state air quality improvement money, the natural gas industry is squaring off against an odd-bedfellow coalition of environmentalists and big business. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing lawmakers to extend subsidies for the natural gas industry. The environmentalist-business coalition says the subsidies don’t actually do that much to improve air quality and that the money would be better spent in other ways. Read more
