Tax changes, vehicle fees effective July 1

A series of state tax increases and decreases will go into effect this Saturday. The IMPROVE Act will become official on July 1, and with it will be an increase in the gas tax and a decrease in several other taxes meant to offset the hike. Discussion has been ongoing since 2015 on how to catch up on the backlog of road issues throughout the state, and the IMPROVE Act was the solution given by Gov.
